ABOUT

Foxtail Studio owner/creator Brianne Shea studied at the Maine College of Art in Portland, completing her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Ceramics in 2017. From there she moved to a local artist collaborative space, Running With Scissors.

Her thesis work revolved around the idea that beauty and function do not need to be mutually exclusive ideas. Though the aesthetic qualities of her pottery have changed dramatically from what she showed in the 2017 Congregate Exhibition to now, that belief is still the core philosophy behind Foxtail Studio. Very little of it requires specialized care, it was all designed around ease of use and can be put in the dishwasher or microwave where applicable.

The current line of work came from a lifelong interest in macro photography. A simple moment in nature, such as minnows darting through water, the mottled look of a forest in autumn, or the beak of a bird becomes the source for a pattern.
